Biography

Barbara had a forty year career in nursing and most recently, twenty years of experience as Director of Nursing Support Services at Memorial Health System with responsibility for Case Management, Patient Education, Nursing Education, Hospitalist Program and Quality Improvement; she provided Administrative support and direction for CME and the Wound Care Center, and had a key role in development and management of Disease Management for Outpatient Clinic Services at Printers Parkway Medical Plaza. She also has eight years prior clinical experience in acute care and critical care nursing units and was a nurse since 1965 in several states and overseas.  Barbara holds a BSN from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s of Public Administration from UCCS.

Additional Information

Married to Michael Newberry for 55 years; three sons, all married, six grandchildren; member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and active there in Parish Nursing; 3 mission trips to Russia; also endow a scholarship in the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, as well as a separate AF/OSI scholarship; gardening, camping, hiking, biking, and traveling are current pastimes.
